Shower Leak Resulting in Mold damage
This mold damage was the result of a leaking shower that went unnoticed for too long. Notice the extent of black colored mold growth which formed on the studs and in the insulation. The homeowner was doing a renovation of their master bathroom and discovered the microbial growth when tearing out the tile wall. He stopped and called in our mold experts here at SERVPRO of Tallahassee. We recommended to have a Mold Inspector come as well to test the microbial growth and write a protocol for the scope of work to be completed. SERVPRO of Tallahassee technicians put up containment and went to work to clean up the bathroom and rid this area of the growth.
In the after photo you can see where all building material tore out was removed and the bathroom fully cleaned. SERVPRO of Tallahassee cleaned, and HEPA vacuumed all surfaces within the contained area, and a disinfectant was applied. All studs were scrapped and sanded, vacuumed and disinfected as well. We then encapsulated the affected studs and remaining building materials. All work commenced while an air scrubber continuously scrubbed the air for microscopic mold spores. Once all our work was completed, the Mold Inspector returned to perform post remediation verification. SERVPRO of Tallahassee successfully removed the mold damage, and the homeowner was able to return to finish the renovations he started.
